The naming of Jerome

One camel, three names in the running, and a hearing error that won. Here is how the mascot of Drome got his name - and how his portrait kept changing along the way.

  1. The runner-up
    Humphrey

The obvious candidate - every cartoon camel is a Humphrey, the pun writes itself (hump). It came in second.

  2. The near-name
    Drome

Short for dromedary, the one-humped camel. It named the app, and the camel almost took it too - one name for both.

  3. What stuck
    Jerome

Sarah misheard "Drome" as "Jerome" and loved it. The rhyme keeps the brand link, and the primary user naming the mascot beat one-name purity. Decided July 5, 2026. Filling Jerome is using Drome.

How he's been drawn

Four takes on Jerome's portrait, at the same water level for a fair comparison.

1 - Dromedary barrel
2 - Real proportions
3 - Flaticon-inspired
4 - App-style (live)
